Our September 11th Chat-tty Tea Gathering topic was ~ transitioning into the fall season using Ayurveda. Here's a short summary of our meeting.
Hydrate! - start sipping warm water during the day to keep the body from drying out too fast. You can add fresh juices to your water for electrolytes or brew some cumin-cardamom-fennel tea for extra balance.
Oil Everything! - oil nourishes and grounds both body and mind. Apply it to the skin, hair, feet, and even your nose to keep respiratory channels open to escape those seasonal allergies and flues. But choose an oil that suits your Dosha for best results. Some of the most popular oils in Ayurveda are sesame, coconut and almond.
Foods - eating fruits like figs and grapes, plus veggies like leafy greens, artichokes, and asparagus helps reduce heat in the body
As we release the summer heat, switch to lighter, warm meals like soups. Stews are a bit too heavy just yet. Spices are great but need to be chosen wisely to keep your Doshas balanced.
Gentle Movement - keep exercise light and gentle during this time and take it easy to avoid overexertion.
Warm Up - as the air cools, keep your feet, head, and ears warm and protected.
Open Your Home - transition your space by keeping windows open to balance airflow and maintain harmony between your home and the outside world.
Wind Down Early - as the days shorten, gradually start winding down your day earlier to align with the decreasing daylight.
Remember to transition inward too. As nature begins to slow down, it’s an opportunity to calm our nervous system and realign with the natural circadian rhythms.
During this time, our immune systems are a bit more vulnerable, so take extra care by hydrating and listening to your body.
