THE UNIVERSAL LAW OF ENERGY ~ A Cute story with a great message.
I read a Sufi (an esoteric or mystical of Islamic spirituality) story about a thief who wanted to break into a house to commit a robbery.
He tried to climb up to the second floor of the house by putting a ladder up against the wall. He put it right by a window, but the ladder slipped and he fell and got hurt.
He wanted to sue the owner of the house. So he went to court. The owner was called in as well. The owner said that the day the thief tried to climb up the ladder, a subcontractor had just put in the new window and it was probably due to the man putting in the window in such a way that it didn’t quite fit properly, and that’s why the ladder slipped.
So they ended that court session and the contractor was sought. They found the contractor and called him in. The court reconvened and the window contractor said that he got distracted by a beautiful woman passing by, so that’s probably why he didn’t get the window placed exactly right. So they adjourned until they could locate the woman.
They found her and brought her in. She said, “I remember that day, I was wearing a very attractive coat, which is probably why the man got distracted.” So they found the person who sold her the coat and brought her in. She turned out to be the wife of the thief, himself.
So, there you have it. Everything comes full circle, eventually.
Do we really ever get away with anything?
Even if we manage to avoid getting caught and punished, eventually, it catches up with us.
We have all heard about the ten commandments of Christianity. Do you know what the eleventh commandment is?
No?
It is “Thou shalt not get away with it.”
It's not that we are condemned.
It is the action we commit, itself, that brings about its own inevitable outcome. These are universal principles.
If we live a life of nurturing ourselves and our surroundings, we shift our perspective and are more likely to experience joy.
Among all the good things we can do, selfless service, having a positive attitude towards everyone and nature, brings the best results.
We experience peace when we move beyond our limitations through selfless actions.
Many people change jobs or careers in order to be happier, even though the new job pays less. They may make less money but they are doing the thing that pleases them the most and gives them real satisfaction.
We often see people doing things that are not ethical or respectful of others. They seem to get away with these actions for a long time. But, according to the philosophy and teachings of the ancient Hindu scriptures, the laws of karma cannot be broken or ignored. Whether we believe in Hinduism and karma or not, each action we do has its’ own consequence. Some outcomes are good and favorable while others are unfavorable and not good. They can be painful to the one who commits the action, whatever it may be.
We may wonder why some people seem to have a lot of good karma and a relatively easy life, while others tend to suffer from some ailment or lack of money or opportunity or friends.
Those who tend to struggle or suffer a lot may not have done anything terrible during their life that would logically make them have to suffer so much.
The Hindu view is that they must have done something in a previous lifetime, the consequences of which they are now having to endure. So this is why bad things often happen to good people.
On the other hand, it can be said that one who’s life goes smoothly and he gets good breaks, so to speak, must have done many good deeds in some previous incarnation.
Nobody really gets away with anything.
For example, some people believe they could make a living without ever paying taxes. However, they didn’t realize that they weren’t putting anything away for retirement. When the time comes to apply for Social Security benefits, they discover that they aren't eligible because they hadn't paid into it. They didn’t have enough points to qualify for SS benefits.
Yet, it comes as a shock.
It's simple, if you didn't pay in, you don't get paid out.
The take away is that everything is a choice and everything has consequences. That's just the laws of the universe.
We all have to live with ourselves. So, We can choose how we want to live in our inner world of feelings and thoughts.
We can have critical thoughts or we can have harmonious ones. We can focus on others, or we can mind my own business.
By experimenting with our lives, we can easily determine which types of thoughts and actions bring a corresponding result.
With harmonious thoughts, we can feel good about ourselves and life and others. However, if we harbor negative or critical thoughts about anyone, we suffer bad feelings. It’s up to us, which way we want to go. Even if our criticisms about someone are right, we still suffer.
We can change our destiny gradually by making ethical and sound choices and acting in the interests of the greater good for all people.
This is a very powerful way to make a better life, not only for ourselves but for those around us. Selflessness expands us and makes us more than what we were as small diminished personalities.
We grow into our greatness that is latent within all humans. We then get to realize the purpose for which we were born into this world.
We can find out who we are, in essence, at heart. Our love grows and expands in all directions.
We become radiant and bright beacons of light.
Our benevolent influence spreads to those around us and indirectly to the whole world.
Even one of us who becomes such an expanded and open being has a tremendous influence that can be felt throughout the world.
We will then be more capable of transforming society this way than by voting for a political candidate. Of course, we need to make our best decisions here too.
We can start by committing to this... “If we can’t do good things for ourselves and others, at least we can refrain from doing harm.”
In the Hippocratic oath that doctors take, is found the phrase, “First, do no harm.” We can, at least do this.
”Don’t do unto others what you would not have them do to you,” is another way of saying this. At least, let me not interfere with others or impose my agenda on them. “Live and let live” is a good way to live.
Our expanding love goes around and comes back around a hundred-fold!
This really works!!!!
I wish that everyone finds peace and shares it with anyone and everyone they meet.
Sending LOVE to everyone!!!
