Yoga and Love
As we've talked about, the practice of Yoga is to bring us back to true selves, the space that resides in the heart. It might be the most difficult thing for us to understand. Self-love is all the rage these days, but what does it mean?
To love someone else is easy, but to love all of what you are, the thing that you call yourself...all of yourself...not just the parts that you like...can be extremely painful.
Therefore, to love someone else, feels better that excepting all of our own ugly. This is always an escape. We enjoy the feeling of loving someone, but how do you know if you truly love someone else, if you haven't done an experiment to see if you love yourself?
We look for all sort of way to fill ourselves up with "love" but is it really love that we are filling ourselves up with? Maybe it is..but how do we know?
At some point we may decide to come to do an experiment, to know if we can really love. The true test is can we truly love ourselves...
