The Spiritual Toilet

What is the Spiritual Toilet?

We go to the toilet to purge our bodily build up.

We embark on a personal journey to purge our emotional build up.

What we have to remember is that LIFE is happening in every moment, in spite of all the work that we do to purge ourselves.

We also have to remember that everything we do can become a TRAP! One of the biggest TRAPS we can encounter as we go down the road of personal development is staying stuck on The Spiritual Toilet.

We can get stuck in patterns of more...more...more to the point where it takes over our life. When this happens, there's no life.

Remember, we go to the toilet to purge and then go back to life. Well, if we stay on the Spiritual Toilet it can become a trap of it never being enough. One more book...One more course...more devotional practice...more yoga...more flowers offered to the deity. More isn't better. When do we live? When to we play?

The path of Self-Discovery could potentially be the path that binds us up even more. For example, "I'm more spiritual because I did extra practice." "I'm more spiritual because I went on a retreat." "I'm more spiritual because I read that book." "I'm more spiritual because I'm so disciplined and proper."

This is a slippery slope because it can become the path of Spiritual Arrogance, where we stay stuck because we believe we have "achieved" a particular level of growth. This is the TRAP of pure illusions. It's a way to hide and procrastinate from actually LIVING and FEELING LIFE. It's also a way to escape or avoid doing the deep work of looking at ourselves. We can be masterful at doing this, without even realizing it. It's so innocent, but it can happen.

Our healing journey is building a relationship between the conscious and unconscious part of ourselves. This is really hard.

BUT...the biggest thing to help sort through this entanglement is the understanding that we are meant to PLAY.

The minute we take ourselves so seriously, holding on to the purity and perfection we have attained through our practice...is the very moment that we have imprisoned ourselves to the belief that anything less than that is "Less Spiritual." That is staying stuck on the Spiritual Toilet. That is Spiritual Arrogance. That is a trap!

So stay on your path! Stay focused on yourself!

Find the balance between LIFE and our path of SELF DISCOVERY!

Be careful not to turn your life into a never-ending self-discovery project. Yes, we want to reclaim ourselves, but we must do this in a way that allows life to flow through us.

Most importantly, don't forget to PLAY in the delight of life. Don't forget to celebrate. Don't forget to LIVE.

Remember...LIFE is the PLAY of consciousness.
